I am Huoyuan Tan, a Robotics Algorithm Engineer with 5+ years of industry experience in autonomous mobile robot systems. I recently completed my M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Gothenburg, with a thesis on Assessment and Failure Recovery in Remote Vision-Language-Action (VLA) Deployment.

My background combines real-world autonomous robot deployment with recent research on remote VLA deployment, runtime monitoring, and failure recovery. Before graduate school, I worked at Xingyun Intelligence (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd., where I developed and deployed autonomous mobile robots, automated guided vehicles, autonomous forklifts, and intelligent guided vehicles for logistics and automation tasks in ports and factories. My work involved multi-sensor fusion, SLAM, perception, planning, control, and ROS-based system implementation.

I work on autonomous mobile robotics, embodied AI, and robot learning, with a focus on real-world robot deployment and reliable robot behaviour. I am especially interested in structured and interpretable robot intelligence: using task-level reasoning and human intention understanding to guide robot behaviour, while enabling experience-based adaptation, failure detection, and failure recovery during execution. I care about building autonomous systems that are robust in physical environments, understandable to people, and safe for human–robot collaboration.

I am currently seeking Algorithm Engineer or Research Engineer opportunities in autonomous mobile robotics, and embodied intelligence.
